28 Dec 2002
A belated 'Happy Christmas' to everyone celebrating it. Only two MP levels left to do now: Starlight and Scrap Brain. I've updated the
Games page accordingly.
21 Dec 2002
Flying Battery MP is now finished. I'm off school for a fortnight now, so I should get all the MP levels done quite soon. I may live to regret saying that...
14 Dec 2002
The cutscenes are now finally finished. I've been testing the single player mode and making a few tweaks here and there. I'll probably be do more MP levels soon.
07 Dec 2002
Much the same as usual. More cutscene work on SU3. I also did some stuff to SU4, but nothing major. I'll hopefully have an MMF-ish level editor for SU4 eventually. See the
Games page for SU3 progress stuff.
01 Dec 2002
Happy December! Another progress update to the
Games page today.
23 Nov 2002
Several things today. Firstly, we have a new affiliate -
Sonic Enterprises. I've also updated the
Games page to reflect the continued progress of SU3. Things are starting to move now...
16 Nov 2002
Nyahhhh... Nothing done. Again. :-( Sometime soon, hopefully.
09 Nov 2002
MMF v1.5 finally arrived this morning, so I'll probably be spending my weekend exploring it. Hoepfully it'll help SU3 development a little.
06 Nov 2002
OK, so I didn't get the MP level done, but two out of three's not bad. :-) I've rebuilt the scrapped C version of
Sonic Ultra X with the newest version of Allegro, and also updated the
Allegro DLL. This may help some of you who've been having problems getting it running.
02 Nov 2002
Happy November! Now that school's back on, I've not had time to do much. Weekends are now really my only opportunity to make any progress with SU3, so my plan is to get one multiplayer level, one cutscene and one special stage done each weekend. Hopefully.
26 Oct 2002
Due to popular demand, I've uploaded an unprotected version of SU: TR that can be opened in Click 'n' Create. The SU: TR Deluxe version from SAGE required MMF. Get it from the
Games or
Downloads pages.
23 Oct 2002 - Golden Web Award!
Yay! We've been awarded the Golden Web Award 02/03! See the bottom of this page for awards and such. In other news, SU3 development is actually moving forwards for a change. I've decided on the Special Stage as well. Go to the
Games page for percentages and so forth.
19 Oct 2002
The "fourth final boss" is now finished, as is the multiplayer engine. Check out the
Games page for screenshots and such.
16 Oct 2002
I've finally finished the Flying Battery cutscene, which I've been working on for about a month. I've also started on what I refer to as (somewhat paradoxically) the "fourth final boss". Anyway, I updated the
Games page.
13 Oct 2002
No school for a fortnight! Yay! I've updated the
Links page.
09 Oct 2002
The
Guestbook is back up again, this time courtesy of
Bravenet.
05 Oct 2002
The
Downloads page has been changed to reflect all the recent updates. I've also updated the SU3 section of the
Games page slightly.
02 Oct 2002
Happy October! The extension documentation and examples are now up, I've linked to some DLLs on the
Games page, including one you need for the scrapped C version of
Sonic Ultra X, and I fixed the scrapped MMF version into the bargain. Phew.
(28/09/02)
Most of the rest of the SAGE stuff is now up. I'll do the extension docs and examples next time.
(25/09/02)
I've added all the downloads and some of the text from SAGE to the main site (
Games,
MMF Extensions and
Downloads pages are affected). I've also updated the
Links page.
(18/09/02) - SAGE! SAGE! SAGE!
Click here to go to the Gregorsoft Software SAGE booth.
(07/09/02)
I've added a section for SU v2.11a to the
Cheats page.
(04/09/02)
Happy September! Twelve days to
SAGE... Consequently, this place has been receivng even less updates than usual. Sorry! Anyway, I've made a few minor updates to the SU3 section of the
Games page.
(28/08/02)
The
Poll results are up now. I neglected to mention this last time, but the 22nd August was the third aniversary of Sonic Ultra's release. I'd put some cheesy cliché about time here, but I can't be bothered.
(22/08/02)
Woohoo! Update no. 2! Anyway, I received an interesting e-mail which consolidated all of the vague thoughts that have been taking residence in my mind in the past few months. The gist of it was that the GS site was beginning to stagnate. I haven't released a fully new game in over two years (SU 2.11a hardly counts) and my updates are becoming increasingly scarce. The sender of said e-mail (I won't mention names, just in case) also suggested that I release SU3 without
Megachao, but while a good idea for cutting development time, it really is out of the question. MC is an integral part of Sonic Ultra 3, and it's not as if I can just give up on it (not that I want to); it's a joint project. Anyhow, I can see that I really need to get off my backside and do some proper work. Enter
SAGE: I've begun working on a booth, and I intend to make a number of releases there - although unfortunately not SU3 - some of which will be larger than others. Anyway, I think that's all I have to say on that matter for now. Moving on: I've added a banner for
Magicgrafx to the Affiliates section. VISIT THEM! :-) Due to the impending demise of BeSeen (26th of August, to be exact), the guestbook will shortly cease to exist. I'll try to find a replacement. In amongst development, and booth creation. [Sighs]
(22/08/02)
Woops... where does the time go? I've taken the poll down. The results will be up when I can bothered to put them there.
(14/08/02)
Uh... nothing today. Oh, well.
(07/08/02)
Happy August! After... oh, four months of apathy, I've finally started working on
Megachao again. I've changed the save file format and (almost) converted it to 320x240. My next step is to fix the flaky connections. Meanwhile, I've added the level progression chart to and changed some of the stuff on the SU3 section of the
Games page.
(31/07/02)
I've added a new poll to the
Poll page. Please vote!
(21/07/02)
It's a day late, but it's here:
Sonic Ultra v2.11a! Please try it!
(17/07/02)
Oh, it's the Sonic Ultra title screen. Or is it?
Actually, it is. It doesn't belong to the original version 1.00, or even the v1.50 that was in
SU Comp. Nope, it's a new, revamped v2.11, as the astute bottom-right-corner-lookers will have noticed. I've redone the engine and graphics and so forth. It still pales in comparison to modern SFGs, and indeed even to
SU3, but it's of nostalgic interest if nothing else. And it has weather effects! :-) Expect it on or around Saturday.
(13/07/02)
Oops... letting things slip again... I appear to have only updated twice during June, and now it's nearly half way through July already (happy July, BTW). Right, OK. Here's the finalised level progression chart for SU3:
Sonic | Tails | Knuckles |
Emerald Hill | Angel Island |
Hydro City | Sky Sanctuary | Hydro City |
Flying Battery |
Marble Garden | Launch Base |
Starlight |
Scrap Brain |
Scrap Brain Fortress | |
I'll add it to the
Games page when I can be bothered.
(29/06/02)
June is drawing to a close already, and this is only my second update of the month. The school holidays are approaching, however, so from Thursday afternoon I'm going to have a lot more time on my hands. Expect a reasonable amount of work out of me -- it's not as if I've got anything else to do.
(05/06/02)
Sigh... happy June. It seems I've neglected to update this place
again; I really have to pull my socks up. There has been a distinct lack of material, but then that's my fault too. I haven't done any work to SU3 in ages, none to Megachao for even longer, and what little I've done to
TNG has only made it worse. If I find something intreresting, I'll give it to you. Meanwhile, I've slightly modified the navbar. The MIDI is off by default; click the link to toggle playing it.
(22/05/02)
Grr... long time no update. I've fixed the hit counter and updated the
Links page.
(04/05/02)
Happy May! I've added another screenshot of The Next Game to the
Games page. I've also rerwitten the description to reflect my progress. Please take a look!
(27/04/02)
The results couldn't have been any closer: 20 of you chose to scrap Lava Reef, while 19 of you elected to keep it. However, it gets closer still:
I always make a point of voting on my polls (hey, it is my game, after all ^_^), and I voted to scrap it, meaning that public opinion is exactly divided. Anyway, Lava Reef is now out. It might be back if I do a Deluxe edition of SU3, but then again, it might not. Check out the
Games page.
(24/04/02)
I've taken down the poll. The results are up on the
Poll page. As I'm typing this on the 22nd, I don't know what the results actually
are yet. I'll act according to your vote and update the SU3 page to reflect this soon.
(17/04/02)
For the first time in... erm... quite a while, I've added a new
Poll. This time, it's about SU3 levels. All the levels except Lava Reef are almost finished, and LRZ hasn't been shaping up well so far. Also, my deadline is approaching, and the less work I have left to do the better. So, the poll asks whether or not to include Lava Reef.
Please vote!
(10/04/02)
Happy April! I really am letting this slip... 9 days late?? Anyway, I've added another screenshot, just to give this update some substance. This time, we have a cutscene. Interesting, I'm sure.
(30/03/02) - Grrrrr...
With the holidays approaching, I had ordered myself a copy of
Programming Windows to see myself through my free time for the forthcoming fortnight. And it arrived on the first day. Or rather, it didn't. No, instead, I ended up with a copy of
Programming Microsoft Windows with C# - definitely
not what I wanted. In case you hadn't already noticed, I am very slightly miffed. All it means for you folks, though, is that I'll have more time to work on SU3. :-)
(24/03/02)
As requested, the background MIDI has been changed. We now have the Sky Chase Good Future Remix, courtesy of Jarel Jones. I found this, and more or less all my other music, at
VGMusic, if you're interested.
(20/03/02)
I've changed the main stylesheet for the site to make the scrollbar fit in with the rest of the layout (in IE6, anyway). Hope you like it! :-)
(16/03/02)
I've added another screenshot to the SU3 section of the
Games page. This is the first 320x240 shot I've uploaded, and I'll think you agree that this res is
much better than the old 520x340.
(11/03/02) - Change of E-Mail Address
Just a little note to inform you that I've changed my e-mail address to
oogaland@hotmail.com, after EMail.com decided to stop forwarding mail to my POP account.
(09/03/02) - Fixes Galore
Happy March! Lots of (OK, two) fixes for you today. Firstly, I've fixed the
Stack Object. You can use strings in expressions without crashing MMF now. Also, I've uploaded
another patch for the Megachao Beta. It's not essential, but handy if you don't know how to find your IP address. This patch automates everything for you. Get it
here, on the
Megachao page, or on the
Downloads page.
(27/02/02)
Apparently there was a bug in the MC beta which prevented you from logging in to the chat room. I've fixed it now. Get the complete beta
here, or, if you've got the old version, get
this patch.
(23/02/02) - Megachao Beta!!
The Megachao Beta is finally here!! Check out the
Games page. We need all the feedback we can get on this one, so
please send comments/criticisims/bug reports etc.
(13/02/02)
I've added my new extension - the
Stack Object - to the
MMF Extensions page. I've also made a very slight change to the
Bitwise Object. I'd forgotten to change the title bar in the dialogue box that appears when you create an object. That's been fixed now.
(09/02/02)
Happy (belated) February! Fixed an annoying bug in the site, which only seems to occur in IE6. The horizontal scrollbar was displayed, evin if only the vertical was necessary. For some unfathomable reason, IE6 does this if it encounters a
<!DOCTYPE> line at the start of an HTML document, which is required by the W3C HTML spec. Weird. I'm working on a Megachao beta, so expect to see that in the not-too-distant future. I've also reinstated the 'Random Sentence' thing on the left.
(30/01/02)
Another week, another total absence of productivity on my part. It'll come one day, honestly.
(23/01/02)
[Looks at date] Through some strange twist in space-time, I appear to have neglected the upkeep of this site for no less than
two weeks. I will write out "I will remember to update my site" 200 times. Meanwhile, I have absolutely nothing new for you today. You'd think I'd have learned, but evidently not.
(09/01/02)
I've been through and fixed a number of the mistakes I made the first time round (most notably some IE6 issues). There are still a few problems unfixed, but I'll get round to them soon.
(05/01/02) - New Look!
Happy New Year! In case you haven't noticed, the GS site now has a new look. It makes generous use of a certain shade of blue - #004E90, to be precise - which is my favourite colour at the moment. It's doubtful that this will remain true for long, however, so if you really hate the colours, don't panic. I'll probably change them soon. :-) Anyway, the Saved Game How-To has now reached version 2.0. Check out the (new)
How-Tos page. Also, I've created an MMF extension: the Bitwise Operations Object. Check out the equally new
MMF Extensions page. I've made many changes during the site redesign, so take a look around.
